Lower the barrier to entry for democratized space robotics testbeds, so smaller labs, students, and newcomers can build on validated tools instead of reinventing core infrastructure.

The space robotics community has historically been constrained by proprietary, siloed, and hard-to-reproduce software and hardware stacks, which slows down research progress and makes it difficult for new groups to enter the field. This workshop brings together researchers, engineers, and practitioners working on open-source and openly documented solutions for orbital and planetary robotics, to foster a more collaborative, reproducible, and accessible ecosystem.

Our objective is twofold: first, to showcase concrete tools — simulation frameworks, autonomy stacks, SITL/HITL pipelines, and software- and hardware-based redundant failsafe schemes — that are publicly released and usable by the broader community; second, to identify gaps and opportunities for collaboration across groups currently developing similar tools in isolation. High on the priority list is forming a working group for continued open-source support in space robotics.

Zoom participation is available, covering keynotes, spotlight talks, the panel discussion, and the tutorial session.

Demonstration area

An interactive space for organizers and submitters to showcase open-source hardware and software, with wired internet and power for laptops.

Poster session

Poster boards and small powered tables for accepted contributors to display and discuss their work informally.
